The air then circulates underneath the workstation, returns to the top of the cabinet, and passes through HEPA filters.
The exhaust air is drawn in from the front of the cabinet and underneath the work surface, acting as a barrier to prevent potentially contaminated air from escaping toward the operator.

The inflow air mixes with the downflow air from the top of the cabinet and enters the front intake grille. The air then passes over the workstation, where it splits: approximately 60% to 70% of the contaminated air is recycled back into the workstation through the downflow HEPA filter, while the remaining 30% to 40% is exhausted through the exhaust HEPA filter.
